plains the natural sequence of posi ve occurrences when one follows His
advice. First, nature will cooperates with man to make his securing the ne-
cessi es of life easy. Krishna says, “All living bodies subsist on food grains,
which are produced from rains. Rains are produced by performance of yajna
[sacrifice], and yajna is born of prescribed du es.” (Bg 3.14) Therefore, living
a lifestyle based on following the regulated ac vi es of Krishna Conscious-
ness will assure our well-being and con nual progress in spiritual life.
Bhak vedanta Swami Prabhupada explains, “Food grains or vegetables are
factually eatables. The human being eats different kinds of food grains, vege-
tables, fruits, etc., and the animals eat the refuse of the food grains and veg-
etables, grass, plants, etc. Human beings who are accustomed to ea ng meat
and flesh must also depend on the produc on of vegeta on in order to eat
the animals. Therefore, ul mately, we have to depend on the produc on of
the field and not on the produc on of big factories. The field produc on is
due to sufficient rain from the sky, and such rains are controlled by demigods
like Indra, the sun and moon demigods, etc., and they are all servants of the
Lord. The Lord can be sa sfied by sacrifices; therefore, one who cannot per-
form them will find himself in scarcity – that is the law of nature. Yajña
(sacrifice), specifically the saṅkirtana-yajna prescribed for this age, must
therefore be performed to save us at least from scarcity of food supply.”
The Samkirtan sacrifice (yajna) is recommended for this age so that human-
ity can receive all its necessi es in coopera on with nature

of Kali, people who are endowed with sufficient intelligence will worship the
Lord, who is accompanied by His associates, by performance of Samkritana
yajna. Other yajnas (sacrifices) men oned in the Vedic literatures are not
easy to perform in this Age of Kali, but the Samkirtana yajna is easy and sub-
lime for all purposes, as recommended in the Bhagavad-gita also (Bg
9.14).” (Bg 3.10 – purport)
