The chan ng of the Hare Krishna Mantra was promoted by Lord Caitanya,
the fi eenth century incarna on of Lord Krishna. The purpose of all yajnas
(sacrifices) is to please Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna declares that He is the ben-
eficiary of all sacrifices: “A person in full consciousness of Me, knowing Me to
be the ul mate beneficiary of all sacrifices and austeri es, the Supreme Lord
of all planets and demigods, and the benefactor and well-wisher of all living
en es, a ains peace from the pangs of material miseries.” (Bg 5.29) With-
out peace there is no ques on of happiness. By prac ce of Krishna Con-
sciousness one overcomes all the causes of misery. Suffering is unnecessary,
but it becomes a part of everyday life because we remain ignorant of basic
facts of progressive spiritual life. The following points summarize the “peace
formula for humanity.”

1- Lord Krishna is the beneficiary of all human ac vi es (Bg 5.29)

2- People should offer everything to the transcendental service of the Lord
because Krishna is the proprietor of all planets and all planetary administra-
tors like the demigods.(Bg 5.29, 9.27)

3- In illusion, the living en es are trying to be lords of all they survey.
They, however, are dominated by the material energy of the Lord, who is its
creator and controller. All condi oned souls are ac ng under the strict laws
of material nature established by Lord Krishna. (Bg 7.13, 7.14)

4- No one is greater than or equal to Lord Krishna (Bg 10.8)

5- Krishna is the best friend and benefactor of the living en ty

Unless one understands these facts of life, it is not possible to achieve peace
in the world.

By following the instruc ons of Krishna as given in the Bhagavad-gita, Krish-
na’s supply agents, the demigods in charge of universal supply of necessi es
for all living en es, are pleased. They will make available all the natural
products that sustain life like water, sun and moon light, wind, rain, etc.

Performance of the Samkirtana yajna has many benefits for humanity that
support man’s a empt to free himself from the cycle of birth and death: all
ac vi es are purified, one’s eatables become sanc fied by offering them first
to Krishna; ea ng sacred food the body and mind become purified. By purifi-
