The whole idea is that people residing in New Vrindaban may not have to
search out work outside. Arrangements should be such that the residents
should be self-sa sfied. That will make an ideal asrama.
I do not know these ideals can be given prac cal shape, but I think like that;
that people may be happy in any place with land and cow without endeavor-
ing for so-called ameni es of modern life--which simply increase anxie es
for maintenance and proper equipment.
The less we are anxious for maintaining our body and soul together, the
more we become favorable for advancing in Krishna Consciousness.
Hoping you are well.
Your ever well-wisher,
A. C. Bhak vedanta Swami
This le er outlines the ideal organiza on for a healthy, happy and prosperous
life based on intelligent stewardship of land for growing crops especially
grains without using machinery and gasoline/oil, and protec ng cows to ob-
tain the ideal food, which is milk from cows that are protected throughout
their life without sending them to a slaughterhouse.
Bhak vedanta Swami Prabhupada has summarized how to live a peaceful life
based on the Vedic wisdom of simple living and high thinking. The simple liv-
ing is achieved by relying on cow products (milk, yogurt, ghee, cheese, cow
urine and cow dung) and land stewardship using only natural methods of de-
veloping and protec ng topsoil with teeming micro-organisms. The economic
problem for sustainability and sustenance is solved by protec ng cows and
employing tradi onal methods of land cul va on without the use of ar ficial
fer lizers, pes cides and machinery. By the produc on of ahimsa milk (milk
produced without unnecessary violence) and organic grains, vegetables and
fruits, all the basic necessi es for maintaining a healthy lifestyle are achieved.
High thinking is possible when one solves the economic problem without reli-
ance on massive industry and modern technology. As a result one gains me
to research the Vedic knowledge concerning the development of pure love
and devo on for God (Lord Krishna). Spiritual life is fostered by a natural and
simple lifestyle that promotes mental peace and physical well-being.
