Srila Prabhupada’s commentaries on shastra are like a
rich tapestry of bona fide Vedic shastric evidence quoted
directly or paraphrased. It takes many years of sincere
study to be able to see the direct correlation word for word,
line by line of Srila Prabhupada’s commentary and bona
fide Vedic shastra. Brahma das and many others will make
cavalier statements that ignore the intricate correlation
of Srila Prabhupada’s commentary and Vedic shastra.
Claims that Srila Prabhupada chose the wrong word, his
comments are dated, his commentary is not essential
and can be ignored are signs of Brahma das’ material
conditioning and ignorance that results from it. He needs
to study Srila Prabhupada’s books under the guidance of
an experienced devotee who can correct him when he
ventures into flights of speculation about the words of a
pure devotee. Remember that Srila Prabhupada’s name
is Bhaktivedanta Swami. This sannyas title was given to
him by his own Godbrothers in recognition of his expert
knowledge of Shastra. Brahma das should be very careful
not to criticize Srila Prabhupada’s words.
