sex is consensual and pleasing, it is “aggressive mercy”; if
it is not consensual and not pleasing, it may be considered
rape. The aggressive, passionate approach of the man may
appear to be the same in both cases. If the experience is
pleasing for the woman it can be considered as aggressive
mercy. If there is violence and assault of the woman, then
it is criminal rape.
It is prudent to read Srila Prabhupada’s words with a
critical eye to examine how he repeats or echos the
shastric statement. It will be evident that he never deviates
from the shastra. Perhaps the reader has a problem with
the shastra. Srila Prabhupada’s words, however, remain
faithful and true to Vedic shastra.
Srila Prabhupada has written, “I am so much grateful
that you have enjoyed studying my books. Many young
intelligent persons such as yourself are studying these
books in the colleges and universities all over the world.
Actually anyone who tries to understand these books
will become a great realized devotee of Lord Krishna
gradually. The original potency of the shastra remains
in these books because I have not added or opinionated
anything of my own. I have simply presented the scriptures
such as Bhagavad-gita and Srimad Bhagavatam as they
are. Therefore just see the effect they have on the world.”
