 Addendum #1

“My only wish is to have my consciousness purified by the
            words of the Spiritual Master”

This essential instruction is the foundational basis of a
devotee’s life in ISKCON. Every word of Srila Prabhupada
has importance for a sincere devotee. Srila Prabhupada
writes, “Simply read my books and repeat what I have
written. Then our preaching will be perfect.” (Letter, April
            4, 1975)

Any statement by a person that castes a doubt on the
purity or correctness of Srila Prabhupada’s words is an
attempt to undermine the firm conviction of a devotee
that Srila Prabhupada’s words are based on bona fide Vedic
            authority. Srila Prabhupada has written,

“A bona fide spiritual master is in the disciplic succession
from time eternal, and he does not deviate at all from the
instructions of the Supreme Lord as they were imparted
millions of years ago to the sun-god….” (Bg. 4.42, Purport)

There are two anecdotal experiences I have had that
confirm these statements above. In 1975, Bhagavan das
went to India to serve as Srila Prabhupada’s personal
secretary for one month. He had different assignments in
the personal service of His Divine Grace. One day Srila
