How to meet and accept a bona fide Spiritual Master – In‐
struc ng and Ini a ng gurus

If one sincerely seeks and prays to be trained by sincere and genuine
devotees of the Lord (instruc ng gurus and an ini a ng guru) in order
to understand the Supreme Absolute Truth, then Lord Krishna makes
an arrangement for the aspirant to meet such qualified persons for
proper educa on and training. The path to recognize a bona fide spir-
itual is to first learn the Bhagavad-gita As It Is authored by His Divine
Grace A.C. Bhak vedanta Swami Prabhupada. He is referred to as Srila
Prabhupada which means he is the master at whose feet all other mas-
ters offer homage. Srila Prabhupada en tled his transla on and pur-
ports Bhagavad-gita As It Is because anyone who reads it carefully will
certainly come to the same conclusion as did Arjuna 5000 years ago.
Arjuna declared his clear understanding of Lord Krishna, Supreme Abso-
lute Truth, a er the Lord answered his ques ons and doubts:

                                  arjuna uvāca
paraṁ brahma paraṁ dhāma / pavitraṁ paramaṁ bhavān
puruṣaṁ śāśvataṁ divyam /ādi‐devam ajaṁ vibhum

āhus tvām ṛṣayaḥ sarve / devarṣir nāradas tathā
asito devalo vyāsaḥ / svayaṁ caiva bravīṣi me (Bg 10.12‐13)

Arjuna said: “You are the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the ul mate
abode, the purest, the Absolute Truth. You are the eternal, transcenden-
tal, original person, the unborn, the greatest. All the great sages such as
Nārada, Asita, Devala and Vyāsa confirm this truth about You, and now
You Yourself are declaring it to me.”

Lord Krishna is the original and quintessen al spiritual master who
propounded the infallible knowledge of the Bhagavad-gita, and Arjuna
is the archetypal disciple for understanding Bhagavad-gita. Therefore,
the Bhagavad gita should be understood from Krishna as Arjuna under-
stood it. If one reads the Bhagavad-gita and comes to a different con-
clusion than Arjuna, then it should be understood that the reader did
