Page 29 - THE FOURTH DIMENSION
P. 29
“In this Age of Kali, people who are endowed with sufficient intelligence will worship the Lord, who is
accompanied by His associates, by performance of saṅkīrtana-yajña.” (SB 11.5.32)
The samkirtana movement is the prime benediction for humanity because one can easily attain unalloyed
devotion to the Lord. All purposes attained by practicing austerities, penances, sacrifices and mystic yoga, can
easily be achieved by the chanting of the Hare Krishna mantra, which purifies all sinful reactions and most
importantly the desire to sin. This is because Krishna and His holy names are non-different. The result of
constant chanting is that one can see the Lord’s presence always and this brings one to the stage of ananda-
maya – realization of the all-blissful spiritual nature in the association of Lord Krishna and His transcendental
devotees. This blissful state opens the door to the fourth dimension.
Scientific research and mathematics point to the Fourth Dimension
Although living entities in this world live in three dimensions with a low level of consciousness, it is still possible
through careful observation to logically understand the existence of the fourth dimension. One example can be
understood through mathematics. There are an infinite series of whole numbers 1,2,3,4…to infinity. If we extract
all the even numbers, they are also infinite in number. The remaining odd numbers are similarly infinite. The
same thing happens if we extract all the odd numbers from the infinite series of whole numbers like 1,3,5,7….to
infinity. The extracted odd numbers are infinite and the remaining even numbers are infinite. Thus the study of
numbers points to the fourth dimension where all things become eternally infinite.
By examining Vedic literatures we find the following verse in the Isopanisad:
oṁ pūrṇam adaḥ pūrṇam idaṁ / pūrṇāt pūrṇam udacyate
pūrṇasya pūrṇam ādāya / pūrṇam evāvaśiṣyat
“The Personality of Godhead is perfect and complete, and because He is completely perfect, all emanations from
Him, such as this phenomenal world, are perfectly equipped as complete wholes. Whatever is produced of the
Complete Whole is also complete in itself. Because He is the Complete Whole, even though so many complete
units emanate from Him, He remains the complete balance.”
This verse gives us a hint of the inconceivable and unlimited power of Lord Krishna, the Supreme Absolute Truth,
who is perfect and complete. He emanates unlimited perfect and complete universes with innumerable living
entities. He still remains perfect and complete. This is possible because he possesses infinite energies that He
can expand at will without His energies being diminished. This is one out of many distinguishing qualities of the
Supreme Absolute Truth, Lord Krishna, from all other living beings.
The concept of infinity in mathematics points to the existence of the Supreme Absolute Truth, Lord Krishna, who
has infinite potencies that emanate from Him incessantly. All the emanations from the Supreme Lord are
dependent on Him for their completeness, but the Supreme Lord remains independently complete. Like the
example above, any subset of natural numbers is also infinite as well as the infinite series of whole numbers.
The example of the sun affords another glimpse into a source of seeming infinite energy that is emanating
unceasingly. This is because the the sunshine is a reflection of the light and energy emanating from the body of
Lord Krishna (His Brahmajyoti effulgence) which is reflected off the sun planet into the material world. The sun
is the source of all energy and light in our universe. Life in the universe cannot be sustained without the sun.
There are attempts today by scientists to replicate the fusion technology they postulate as being the source of
the sun’s unlimited expansion of energy. Thirty-four nations and thousands of scientists are working on this
