P. 28

“In the stage of perfection called trance, or samādhi, one’s mind is completely restrained from material mental
activities by practice of yoga. This perfection is characterized by one’s ability to see the Self by the pure mind and
to relish and rejoice in the Self.”

sukham ātyantikaṁ yat tad / buddhi-grāhyam atīndriyam
vetti yatra na caivāyaṁ / sthitaś calati tattvataḥ

“In that joyous state, one is situated in boundless transcendental happiness, realized through transcendental
senses. Established thus, one never departs from the truth, and upon gaining this he thinks there is no greater
        gain.”

yaṁ labdhvā cāparaṁ lābhaṁ / manyate nādhikaṁ tataḥ
yasmin sthito na duḥkhena / guruṇāpi vicālyate
                                           taṁ vidyād duḥkha-saṁyoga-viyogaṁ yoga-saṁjñitam

“Being situated in such a position, one is never shaken, even in the midst of greatest difficulty. This indeed is
actual freedom from all miseries arising from material contact.” (Bg 6. 20-23)

The ability to see the Self by the pure mind means the devotee actually sees the presence of Lord Krishna in His
heart by pure meditation by chanting the Hare Krishna Mahamantra and engaging in devotional service by which
all material desires are replaced by pure desires to serve the Lord with ever-increasing enthusiasm and faith.
The Lord progressively reveals Himself to the devotee who becomes enamoured by the vision of the Lord
accompanying him. The individual jivatma (soul) referred to as the self (with a small s) becomes consciously
aware of the Supreme Self (spelled with a capital S) present in his heart as the benevolent witness, overseer,
permitter and supreme proprietor. The Supersoul or Lord Krishna is always with the individual soul, the living
entity. They are both intimately related as friends. This fact overwhelms the living entity with joy and love.

7- Sarvatma-snapanam param vijayate sri Krishna sankirtanam – all glories to the Sankirtana movement, the
chanting of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra

The Sankirtana movement, the congregational chanting of the Hare Krishna Mahamantra, was specifically
brought into this world by Lord Caitanya, the most recent incarnation of Krishna in the fifiteenth century.

Golokera prema dhana hari nama sankirtana – The treasure of love of God has descended from the spiritual
world of Goloka Vrindabana, appearing in this world as the sankirtana movement of the chanting of Lord Hari’s
(Krishna’s) holy names. (Prarthana prayers of Narottama dasa Thakura)

The chanting of Hare Krishna is the yuga dharma, the recommended means in this age of Kali, to attain love of
God and complete liberation by constant engagement in devotional service of the Lord. This is confirmed in the
        Srimad Bhagavatam:

Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam as follows, with special reference to the saṅkīrtana-yajña:

                                          kṛṣṇa-varṇaṁ tviṣākṛṣṇaṁ / sāṅgopāṅgāstra-pārṣadam
                                            yajñaiḥ saṅkīrtana-prāyair / yajanti hi su-medhasaḥ
