croscope but they cannot reproduce them from dead ma er or chemi-
cals. The mystery of how ma er is transformed into living cells is be-
yond their observa on and experimenta on because there is a non-
material, unseen living en ty that gives life and consciousness to
ma er. Ma er without the presence of a soul is dead. The dimension
of the living en ty is beyond the scope of the scien st’s percep on.
Therefore, they cannot understand the mystery of life although they
can see the effect, life and consciousness anima ng the body made of
ma er.
The Soul of the soul is the real source of life (Bg 3.30)
Even if the scien sts could observe the individual minute soul ani-
ma ng ma er, their research would s ll be incomplete and they
would remain befuddled by the mys c power, which comes from Lord
Krishna, the Soul of the individual soul. The real source of all energy of
life comes from the Supersoul or Krishna’s expansion into the heart of
every living being and into every material atom of the universe. This is
confirmed by Brahma the first and most intelligent living being in the
universe. Brahma states:
eko 'py asau racayituṁ jagad‐aṇḍa‐koṭiṁ
yac‐chak r as jagad‐aṇḍa‐cayā yad‐antaḥ
aṇḍāntara‐stha‐paramāṇu‐cayāntara‐stham‐
govindam ādi‐puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi
“He (Lord Krishna) is an undifferen ated en ty as there is no dis nc on
between potency and the possessor thereof. In His work of crea on of
millions of worlds, His potency remains inseparable. All the universes
exist in Him and He is present in His fullness in every one of the atoms
that are sca ered throughout the universe, at one and the same me.
Such is the primeval Lord whom I adore.” (BS 5.35)
His Divine Grace Bhak siddanta Saraswa Maharaja has given the fol-
lowing commentary on this verse.
