material sense enjoyment, is the cause of forgetfulness of
spiritual life. In this way a living entity’s original Krishna
consciousness becomes covered or converted into material
consciousness. Thus one engages in the business of sense
gratification.”

It is essential to understand how a living entity, whose
original nature is purely spiritual, becomes entangled by
the conditional life of material existence. Lord Krishna
Himself and in His different incarnations has gone to great
length to explain this essential knowledge. The Acaryas
of Lord Krishna have repeated this knowledge at length
to help the struggling living entities understand their
entanglement.

Jagadananda Pandit, a personal associate of Lord
Chaitanya, has explained the cause of the living entities
fall down.

“krsna-bahirmukha hana bhoga-vancha kare / Nikata-
stha maya tare japatiya dhare”

“It is said in the Prema-vivarta that when a living entity
wants to enjoy material nature, he is immediately
victimized by the material energy. A living entity is not
forced to come into the material world. He makes his own
choice, being attracted by beautiful women. Every living
entity has the freedom to be attracted by material nature
