Transferring epithet means transferring our activities from
the saguna level to the nirguna level where activities are
untouched by material contamination. Specific knowledge
of the defects of saguna life (life in the material world
influenced by material contamination or the attempt to
imitate Krishna as the purusha) is essential for progress
in spiritual life. Kapiladeva expounds this knowledge
in detail as quoted above. Brahma das claims that such
knowledge is not essential to the development of Krishna
consciousness. Such a claim is contrary to shastric evidence
as presented in the 3rd Canto of Srimad Bhagavatam and
repeated by Srila Prabhupada.
It is evident that Srila Prabhupada simply repeats the
evidence of Vedic knowledge appropriately. Persons like
Brahma das, Amara das and many others are engaged in
speculative attempts to alter the words of Srila Prabhupada
for their own purposes. The sincere disciple is concerned
to hear and understand the words of a pure devotee and
not to be diverted by speculators.
Guru’s statements are conclusive when supported
by shastra
Brahma das continues in his folly by writing the following,
“The guru’s statements are not always conclusive when
they refer to material issues. This is Bhaktivinoda’s point
about relative and absolute.”
